MIRAA
A pocket camera inspired by Saudi Arabia's growth as a global destination under Vision 2030. Its design draws from the aerodynamic shapes of racing helmets and visors, capturing the energy of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. A simple sliding mirror lets users check their reflection before taking photos, making the experience intuitive. MIRAA helps visitors capture and remember their moments in Saudi Arabia.

The Problem

Most event souvenirs are decorative, and forgotten.
User observation revealed clear gaps in existing event souvenirs , often decorative, lacking interaction or everyday use. Visitors attending major international events in Saudi Arabia expressed a need for products that are meaningful, functional, and able to reflect the excitement and emotions of the moment. MIRAA answers with a pocket camera inspired by the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix , a tool to capture, relive and connect with the event.
How might we design a souvenir that is functional, emotional and unmistakably tied to the event it celebrates?
Inspiration
Helmet · Visor · Speed
The moodboard pulls from the aerodynamic forms of F1 helmets and visors, the motion blur of a car tearing through a tunnel, and soft pebble-like product references. Together they shape MIRAA's curved silhouette, glossy purple finish and visor-like sliding mirror.
Ideation
Sketches · Form & ergonomics
Pages of sketches explored form and ergonomics , pebble silhouettes, helmet-like shells, lens placements and grip cutouts , until the pocket-friendly profile with a sliding mirror emerged. The rendered key view introduces controls: zoom/flash, power button, sliding section and function buttons.
Development
Foam · Shaping · Master model
Multiple foam prototypes were band-sawed, sanded and shaped to refine sizing, grip comfort and portability , then a plaster master was prepared and painted to test the final purple finish.
Final Prototype
Putty · Clear coat · In hand
The resolved prototype , finished with putty and clear coat for a glossy purple shell , with the sliding mirror extended and lens housing in place. Held and tested in hand to confirm scale, grip and the moment of checking yourself before the shot.
